Who is PrivateList?
PrivateList is a Canadian company, established
in 1998 and based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. At this
point, it’s a one-man show run by Hugh
McLean, an ex-realtor with a background in
small business, computer programming, educational writing
and web design.

What is PrivateList?
PrivateList is a internet-based
marketing service which provides inexpensive
full-color exposure for Canadian for sale by owner
properties, plus comprehensive online information, tips
and tools for private buyers and sellers.
Our goal is simple: to harness the power of the Internet
and help Canadians sell their homes privately, saving
both time and money.
Where do I find . . . ?
The top of every page (reached with
Ctrl + page up) provides navigation links to the
six sections of PrivateList (and their subsections)
- so does the site map.

Why should I sell privately?

When is PrivateList updated?
We normally update several times a week:
the middle of our homepage gives the date of the last changes
and a link to the updates page.
Listings are labelled "NEW",
"NEW PRICE" of "SOLD" for two weeks, and our FREE e-mail
newsletter, PrivateList PROACTIVE, goes out twice
a month.
Our quick access page
shows you the easiest ways to set things up for frequent
visits.
How Do Buyers Find My Listing?
Buyers are brought to your display by your
classified ads, highlight sheets or lawn signs - or
those of our clients across the country! As well,
quite a few find us through word of mouth and Internet
search engines.
Once here, they click the
listings link, then either
choose your province and browse its list
of properties OR type in your phone number (from
your classified ad, highlight sheet or lawn sign) and go
directly to the first page of your display.
Currently, the PrivateList web-site receives
about 13,000 visitors per month. You can follow how many
visited your display by means of a counter we
install at the bottom of its first page.
